Monkey Merch!

Hey folks! I just made a run of some posters and mini-prints to promote my film, Monkey, at CTNX.

The posters ($15) are a limited run of 50 (11" x 17" on archival 100 lb. card stock), and the mini-prints ($3) are a run of 60 (4.13" x 5.82" on 16 pt. card stock).

I just completed Sherm Cohen's storyboard secrets course.

Now, I'm on a non-stop storyboarding kick!

Here's a sample from a short board I created this afternoon with a "realistic" feel. Now it's time to move on to the cartoony stuff!

 I'm going to go back and clean up the boards for Double O Monkey this week.

and then it's time to storyboard Future Bum. Who knew boarding was so addictive and fun?

I'm going to have to create a new tab for my board samples soon.

Eating my vegetables.

If you know me, and chances are if you are on my blog you do - you know how much I love the old Disney shorts. I've been doing something I call "eating my vegetables" and doing a daily hour of still framing and studying from the cartoons chronologically from 1940 on. I love studying these master works! These mickey's and cats are studies from  the 1941 cartoon "Lend a Paw". I love how oval they can make his head to push the expression.

 

This next page is not from study per se, but from me trying to draw in the Kirby style. My sketchbook is an odd mix of  life drawing, classic cartoons and then comic book stuff. I guess my tastes haven't changed much since childhood.

Robot Wadska

Last year I spent most of my time working as a layout artist (animation keyposer) on Good Vibes.

This sequence from Episode 2 "Don't Blow Your Wadska" was one I was particularly proud of. I got to draw Robots in 3 point perspective, key out all the BG's and do the final FX animation. It was a nice challenge! I will see if I can find any of the final animation clips of Robot Wadska to post.

I've got a few meetings coming up in the next few weeks so I have been busy finishing up the pitch bibles I've been working on. So as not to ruin anything I'll be "vague".

I did this warm up this morning for the chades challenge. I've noticed that I don't post a lot of rough doodles (or at all for that matter).

From now on I'm going to try and post at least once per week!

Superbowl!

The met life superbowl commercial I animated on was released a few days early so I thought I would share it here.
My two main scenes were the Mystery Machine coming over the bridge and the characters walking rear 3/4 up the hill (around 20 seconds in). It was a blast to work with such classic characters!

Here is the Scooby Intro I did the keyposing for. The frame rate runs a little slow, and the audio is panned pretty hard right - but it's a good idea of what the intro is.

**looks like the video was removed from youtube - However, they guy who did the incredible character design work, Dexter Smith, has his rough designs up on his blog. You should check it out the guy is a genius. It was an honor just to pose out and do some turnarounds of his amazing work.

More Adventure Time Spots!

Here are the rest of the Adventure Time Spots that I was the animation director on. It was great to take these from boards to finish. The Animation was done traditionally (In Illustrator) by John Dusenberry and myself.

Scooby Doo and the Legend of the Phantosaur

The Scooby Doo DVD that I did the title sequence key poses for just came out in stores. I can only post a screen cap or two of my drawings here, but I would suggest checking out the movie. It's a lot of fun (and may be coming to Netflix watch instantly soon).

Drinking and Drawing!

I think these are out there now - I did a poster my friends at Frederator for the Drinking and Drawing event that is coming up in LA. If you see one around town snap a photo for me I would love to see it!

Some lifedrawings

Here are some ink and brush lifedrawings that were laying around on my desktop. 

Google plus automatically linked my drawings from my website and when it deleted them from public view it deleted them forever.

So, it's going to be a while until I have artwork on my website again. I'm posting these just to add some artwork to this site until I get a chance to upload more. These were 7's from the same session.

New(ish) Animation Reel

 Hey Folks!

Another new reel should be coming in about 2 - 3 months as television series and animated DVDs are released and I can show my work to the public.

All of the animation below was done by myself, Adam Rosette, with the exception of the BG characters in thought bubbles that appear briefly during the Saint Judes Hospital PSA segment.

You can expect a bevy of character designs, turns, sketchbook observation and more life drawings as soon as I get a spare moment between freelance,work and hosting some house guests.
